First Post!
Hello! I recently find myself unemployed, watching movies, smoking weed, and feeling introspective. Welcome to an online diary of sorts. A public display of my interests, thoughts, beliefs, and more.
Happy Pride! I’ts officially June and my first pride month out as a LESBIAN! Let’s go lesbian apocalypse. Speaking of lesbian apocalypse, I just finished the last of us. Pedro pascal has grown on me, as a lesbian his charms are weakened on me but after an entire season he managed to win me over, *spoiler alert for tlou* so you can imagine the BETRAYAL that was his incredibly gruesome death. Not only did you manage to make me like a MAN you KILL him immediately? Don’t even get me started on the season 2 finale. As someone who does and will not care about the video game, I was in pure disbelief. Season 3 is Abby centered? I’m curious to see. The endless revenge killing cycle is so strange, like if people keep avenging murders by killing people and so on, everyone is going to die. The show really sheds a lot of perspective on the way we value others. The way characters chose to kill/save others is incredible interesting. What makes someone worth saving? Ellie in exchange for the whole world? A doctor that received no recognition in the moment became the catalyst for the protagonist’s death and a spree of revenge-killings. Did Joel deserve it? Did Ellie cross the line when she killed a pregnant woman? I’m not sure i’ll ever be able to come up with an answer but i’ll keep thinking about it nonetheless.
I am so incredibly grateful for the TV shows that have been coming out lately. I was disapointed in White Lotus season 3 but Yellowjackets, Severance, The Rehearsal, TLOU, The Rookie, and a few other shows have had great seasons come out this year. I feel like more and more shows are indulging the super-fans who desperately analyze and theorize every second of every episode. I love that because i’m one of them. The only thing better than a great episode of a tv show is pairing it with a couple blinkers and a really nerdy reddit thread about it. I love when the color of the roof of the barn in the background of a clip is deliberately reflective of a character’s mental state so I sound less eccentric when I point it out.
I watched the Handmaid’s tale for the first time a few months ago. I bingewatched every season over the course of a few days and found it incredibly topical as the election had just happened. I was FLOORED when a late night rabbit hole into Shannon and scientolgy-tok revealed Elizebeth Moss is a SCIENTOLOGIST?? How the fuck do you star in The Handmaid’s Tale as an ACTIVE FUCKING CULT MEMBER!? NUTSO!
That was quite the tangeant, anyways… I’ll be back
